The study of economics is the most systematic field of study in the social sciences. Our Department deeply hopes our students to develop their understanding of the "real-life economics" of today's societies based on a comprehensive approach by taking lectures on economics. Students are able to obtain a profound knowledge of economic theory, policy, and history in three concentrations: "Economic Theory and Quantitative Methods", "Economic Policy and Industry", and "Economic History, International Economics, and Environmental Economics". Today's global economy is put to the test as it is becoming increasingly interconnected and national borders are rendered obsolete. To help students exercise their wisdom and their ability to act and to enable them to resolve and overcome today's economic challenges, our Department has been improving a curriculum over the more than 60 years since its foundation that carefully balances scientific theory with actual economics. For example, in the course "Theory of Industry", we invite successful business professionals working at the frontline of their respective industries as lecturers. They always provide lecturers to our students with first-hand insights into economic phenomena, as well as to give them advice for their future careers.

Students can freely select from Department Subjects, Aoyama Standard Subjects, Foreign Language Elective Subjects (take at least minimum credits required), as well as subjects offered by other colleges.
